Friends of Newbury Town Library Meeting Minutes Friday, March 10, 2017 11:45am
Maureen, Pres.: Raffle items: Autographed books by 7 local authors, 2 passes for Essex Cruises, $75. SeaGlass. Waiting on replies from corporations. Applied for Sears Grant, denied. Will ask Jean about idea of Garden Club having a table at the Plant Sale. On back burner: Summer Membership Grows Campaign. Made Pam aware that Newburyport 5 notified her that someone reported the Friends debit card lost, ordered a new one and applied for online Bill Pay. As of today, Maureen contacted the bank, verified our status has not and will not be changed, the bank will email confirmation to us and will investigate. Will file taxes – as of today they were sent in and was told of program that could help us raise funds, applied and will update as info comes in. Will contact Page Ins. regarding unknown change in renewal of Liability Insurance. Will contact Chamber regarding their free one-time newspaper ad for Plant Sale.
Tammy, Vice Pres.: Tammy updating Googledoc username and password list, Board determined need for FB & Newsletter info. Book Sale Room doing well. NTL website: FNTL was embedded within, difficult to navigate, updates not working, etc. Jean will discuss with Erin. 98 current members, Alexis Strauch won Membership Grows Campaign.
Belen, VP Communications: Not able to attend – Maureen reported approx. $26.00 received in last quarter from AmazonSmile. Belen will update Board on restaurant fundraisers & others as info develops.
Pam, Treasurer: Finances are in good shape – surpassed Conservative Income Goal, on pace for meeting Stretch Income Goal of $10K. Also close to budget on our expenses – current expense total $8,410 including merchandise purchases and Lliability Insurance. Flags not selling as hoped, will ask Boat Stores, Marinas, to advertise. Librarians to update us if more money is needed for Summer Programs before end of Fiscal Year (June 30).
Patty, Secretary: General comments, ideas, etc., helping with Plant & Bake sale.
Library, Jean: Great turnout at programs, limited in May due to new integrated catalog system. Mon; April 24, 2pm Young at Heart movie. Fri; June 9, 5-8pm, Adult Summer Reading Program start and Suzanne’s retirement party. Music budget $400 for Jazz Trio; 1-day liquor license, Food TBD, need prize ideas. Erin is back!!!
Youth, Katelyn: Large audiences (60) for Sprouting Melodies, increasing dates and reinforcing registration. Summer Reading Program begins June 22: Lego Maniac, Nature Nick, musician David Polanski. Theme: Build a Better World. Prizes to be gift cards to toy stores, movies etc. Will include Plant Sale in newsletter.
Calendar: Next Meeting to be held Thursday, April 13, 12:15.
Plant Sale 8:30-12:30 Sat. May 6: Maureen to spearhead all solicitations for plants and Pam will help pick up. Belen will create flier and promote. Tammy created sign-up genius asking for pots, potted plants and baked goods and will ask our regular volunteers to be ‘on call’ if needed. Board to be at Pam’s at noon Friday to transport, etc. and 12:45 at library to setup.
