Today was our January Monthly Meeting for the Friends.
First topic of conversation was our upcoming restaurant fundraiser at Mission Oak Grill (for more details, please click here). The fundraiser will take place on Wednesday, January 22nd from 4-9:30 PM with the trivia contest portion beginning at 7PM. Please stop in the library and pick up a postcard to bring with you to the restaurant that night (you will need to hand your postcard to your server in order for the friends to be credited with a portion of your meal) or visit our Friends’ table that night to get one. Also, please do spread the word! It’s going to be a fun night and we wouldn’t want anyone to miss out.
We do have one favor to ask: if anyone has a sound system or karaoke system our Trivia Night Emcee can borrow, we would appreciate it it. If you do, please send us an email.
In other good news, our membership continues to grow and our accounts are stable. In regards to membership, those of you up for renewal on February 1st will be receiving a renewal letter in the mail this week or next. If we do not hear from you, we will send you a reminder email (if we have your email on file) at the end of the month. If you do not renew, you will be marked inactive on March 1st. As always, we are grateful for your support!
We have even more great news to share. The library director, Amy Sadkin, shared with us that she applied for an received a NAID grant for the library to create a children’s early learning center. This center will contain an AWE computer. There will also be some ipads and a Mac computer. Very exciting stuff and great for the community! Thank you, Amy!
Another thing we are excited about is that the library has extended to us a separate space (currently used as a computer lab) to set up a more permanent Friends of the Library Bookstore! We are thrilled about this and hope you will be too. At this point, we are looking for someone with carpentry skills to help us set up some shelves. If you are able to help us with the shelves, please send us an email.
Another thing to note is that the library will be celebrating its 15th anniversary in the 0 Lunt Street building on April 1st, 2015. We are hoping to throw a nice party in celebration of this milestone and hope will join us in celebrating. More on this as we get closer to the date.
In other news, we are sad to say that our secretary, Renee Toth, has stepped down in order to manage all of the various other good work she does. We are most grateful to her service and will miss her great advice and good humor. Thank you, Renee!
